Don’t know where to head on your next caravanning trip? Check out these options below.
Exmouth, WA
Exmouth is a small resort town on Western Australia’s Northwest Cape. It is a gateway to many local attractions including Ningaloo Marine Park, with exquisite coral reefs and colourful fish as well as Cape Range National Park with a multitude of beautiful flora and fauna as well as sheer cliffs and rocky gorges. Make sure to visit Jurabi Coastal Reserve for its magnificent tidal pools, serene beaches, and seasonal marine turtle nesting grounds.
East Arnhem Land, NT
East Arnhem Land is home to incredibly rich Aboriginal culture and offers visitors a chance to see one of Australia’s last unspoiled tropical paradises, a pristine coastline unknown to many, rich with biodiversity.
If you’re looking for a remote and untouched paradise with amazing beaches, creeks, islands and an abundance of fishing, East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory just has to be on your list of places to see. East Arnhem provides opportunities you can’t experience anywhere else in Australia.
K’gari (Fraser Island), QLD
Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and a World Heritage-listed site along the south-eastern coast in Queensland. The island is located approximately 250km north of Brisbane.
You just cannot beat the pure white silica sand and blue freshwater of Lake McKenzie. Other activities on the island include 4wding, fishing, beach fun and lots more.
Pink Lake, WA
Officially named Spencer Lake, this beauty is one of only three pink lakes in Western Australia. The water takes on a pink hue due to a specific species of algae that produces a pink coloured chemical to protect itself from the sun’s rays.
The closest town to Pink Lake is Esperance which provides a number of local caravanning and camping options.
The Tip, Cape York, QLD
Located over 1,000km north of Cairns, The Tip, Cape York is the northernmost point of the mainland of Australia. But this trip is not for the faint-hearted and requires some detailed pre-planning.
To get to the tip, you will need to navigate through rough terrain, croc-infested river crossings and tackle some of Australia’s most remote and challenging landscapes to reach Cape York Peninsula.
One look around at the abandoned car shells and lack of mobile phone service and fuel stations tells you all you need to know about the trek. However, it is well worth the trip.
Ayers Rock, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, NT
And last, but definitely not least, possibly the most iconic and well-known landmark in Australia, Ayers Rock (Uluru). Uluru is sacred to indigenous Australians and is located within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The nearest town is Alice Springs which is located over 450km to the North East.
But Uluru is more than just an insta photo opportunity, these historic rock formations hide ancient wisdom and diverse flora and fauna.
There are many activities to participate in for the whole family including ranger guided walks and activities, tours, visit the cultural centre, look at the inspiring rock art, bird watching, visit local galleries and much more.
